Les Aromes de Pavie

Region:France
Appellation:Bordeaux - Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
Varietal:Red Blend
Vintage:2005
"Made from the estate’s younger vines (under 10-years of age), the 2005 Les Aromes de Pavie is a blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in primarily old oak for two years. Deep ruby/purple-hued, soft, fruity, medium to full-bodied, and spicy with hints of high class cigar tobacco mixed with cassis and sweet cherries, it possesses some of its bigger sibling’s personality, and is capable of lasting 10-12 years.” —Robert Parker 90 pts Robert Parker

We are both privileged and excited to introduce one of the most sought after Merlots from Saint-Émilion. My long time friend and owner of Croix de Labrie, Michel PUZIO, is, along with Jean-Luc Thunevin, recognized as a leader of the Saint-Emilion “Garagiste” movement and continues to offer us stunning 100% Merlots year after year. "As most vintages of this small garagiste estate tend to be, the 2005 Croix de Labrie is truly sumptuous stuff. Made from 100% Merlot (only 300 cases produced), it possesses an inky/purple color to the rim as well as a nose that smells like blueberry and blackberry ice cream infused with floral, wood, an espresso scents. Superb intensity and purity as well as an exotic, ostentatious personality are impossible to resist. Not a classic claret, it is the antithesis of the aristocratic, noble Medocs, but what a ride it provides. Enjoy it over the next 10-15 years" - Robert Parker 94 pts

We think Robert Parker says it best: “This tiny garagiste operation has fashioned a gorgeously sexy 2006 boasting sweet creme de cassis notes intermixed with kirsch, coffee, and subtle smoked herb and toast characteristics. Full-bodied, round, and delicous, enjoy over the next 8-10 years" - Robert Parker 94 pts. Also available in 375ml and 1.5L sizes

Vintage:2004
This is the second label of Château Pas de l’Ane, a 60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc blend and a worthy follower of its big brother. As we just completely depleted our inventory of the 2003, we are happy to offer you the 2004 vintage. From a very small property in Saint-Émilion, the production is limited to 11,500 bottles. The wine is aged for 12 months in barrels from the best cooperage in France, Seguin-Moreau. This is a beautiful wine, vivid and full of freshness without heaviness and with very soft tannins. The 40% Cabernet Franc brings very floral aromas and creamy notes. On the palate the wine might appear tannic at first, but immediately evolves into a round, luscious sensation without any harshness followed by a long nice finish. Judged one of the Top 100 Affordable Bordeaux Wines!

Another success from Arnaud DELAIRE and his team at Château BRANDA. With a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc from a mere 2.5 hectares of clay-limestone terroir, and then kept in new oak for 18 months, they have produced 8000 bottles of an extremely well balanced and dense, ripe Merlot filled with smooth, fine tannins. A new entry worth every cent! Recommended by the Decanter publication in the UK.

Appellation:Bordeaux - Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
Varietal:Red Blend
Vintage:2000
This Saint-Émilion Grand Cru wine, aged in new oak, represents one of the flagship wines of the Union de Producteurs de Saint-Émilion (UDPSE). With 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine is highly representative of the best of what Saint-Émilion offers, and is an excellent presentation of the outstanding 2000 vintage. Dark ruby color, on the nose rich with perfumes of cedar and herbs, the Galius 2000 is a beautiful wine to drink now, and will mature to further excellence over the next ten years. Encouraged by the overwhelmingly positive reception of the 2000 vintage we have added the 2001 to our portfolio. The wine clearly illustrates and underscores Robert Parker’s comment that “the finest vintage for shrewd consumers to purchase in 2005 is 2001.” Drinks beautifully NOW!

Vintage:2003
The southwestern slope of Saint-Émilion produces a range of “meso-climates,” which all benefit from the favorable lie of this hillside. Starting at the top, with Château Angelus, the land slopes downward to PATRIS via Château Fonrazade. With a terroir of clay and sand on 9 hectares, Michel QUERRE and his winemaker Marie-Helene SCHAAPER bring forward a deep Merlot with a velvety texture and good structure. This true marvel of the Right Bank is yet to be discovered by Robert Parker, and is therefore still available at a terrific value! The blend is 90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. From a barrel tasting of the 2003, James Suckling of the Wine Spectator notes “Plummy and berry character, with soft tannins and a medium body. Very good length. Nice wine. Almost 89-91.” The 2003 is approachable now but could also be laid down and kept for special occasions for the next 10 to 15 years! 88 pts Wine Spectator

Appellation:Bordeaux - Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
Varietal:Red Blend
Vintage:2001
Château Armens may not yet be a well-known name, but the reputation of this new Saint-Émilion is spreading fast. An investment of one million francs was made in the wine cellar. State of the art technology was introduced, such as micro-oxygenation and reverse osmosis. However, even greater emphasis was placed on vineyard work, perfecting pruning techniques and crop-thinning. The property is 19 hectares of limestone-clay and sand-clay soils. The wine blend is 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, aged in 100% French oak. The average age of the vines is 35 years.
