The Vieux Château Palon vintages, from Montagne Saint-Émilion, are elegant Merlots with a 75% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc blend. The property, located on the magnificent hillsides of Calon, just on the border to Saint-Émilion, enjoys a lot of sunshine. The soil is clay-limestone, which contributes to the evolution of a superb wine. Aged in new oak, they are filled with blackberry and cherry character with a nice body and finish. We are proud to be able to introduce them to the American wine connoisseur.

“A sleeper of the vintage from an estate that remains under consumers’ radar, the 2003 Vieux Château Palon is a dense, fruit-laden 2003 offering hints of sweet black currants, cherries, licorice, and smoke. The ripe, medium-bodied, luscious cuvee with provide a hedonistic mouthful of wine over the next 3-4 years.” –Robert Parker 88 pts

| Appellation: | Bordeaux - Montagne Saint-Emilion |
| Varietal: | Merlot |
| Vintage: | 2004 |
Bottled in April of 2005, this is a medium-bodied wine with a core of ripe blackcurrant fruit. The color is a deep garnet-red. On the nose it displays complex aromas, with fine notes of toast, chanterelles, spices and a light woody finish. In the mouth it is silky and soft, still powerful and full of character. It shows excellent drinkability now, but can also be laid down for the next ten years or more. If it has been a while since you had a good bottle of Bordeaux, this wine is a great way to re-introduce yourself! 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. The production is very limited, only 4000 bottles!
