We have received many requests for a good value Châteauneuf-du-Pape and we are proud to say we found Domaine de Pignan! We hope you and your customers will enjoy our first wine from this renowned appellation. Domaine de Pignan 2004 is a rich and dense Châteauneuf with a deep ruby/purple color and elegant bouquet. It is powerful as well as firmly structured, well balanced, with a long finish. The tannins are present but not aggressive and the 2004 shows a marvelous potential to be enjoyed over the next 8-12 years. The vineyard was created in 1855 and has stayed in the same family ever since. The soil is sandy clay covered with the famed round pebbles. Domaine de Pignan is a blend of 8 grapes and is matured in oak barrels for twelve months. It should be served at 59 degrees and be decanted for at least one hour.

Appellation:Rhone - Chateauneuf-du-Pape
Varietal:Red Blend
Vintage:2007
This estate was among the first to replant the the traditional thirteen grape varietals of Chateauneuf-du-Pape in the 1960's. This red blend is made mostly from 100+ year-old Grenache vines, 40+ year-old Syrah, and six other varietals. Aged for 12 months in oak barrels, it has a beautiful bright ruby color, with fresh red berry and cherry aromas complemented by tobacco and garrigue nuances. The palate is energetic and spicy, with good mineral cut to the sweet red berry and licorice flavors. Serve with game, meat casseroles, and strong cheese.
