This 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon blend comes from a vineyard on the oldest terrace in the Libourne region, consisting of a gravely-clay and sandy-clay soil plateau in Pomerol and Neac. The 2002 LA SERGUE was selected as one of the best wines of the vintage by its peers of the “Cercle Rive Droite de Grands Vins de Bordeaux”.
“Very deep garnet-red color with purple highlights. Deep, full blackberry bouquet. Very elegant and fruity on the palate with good texture and an excellent balance between very smooth tannin and acidity. Good tannic grain and an easy-going aftertaste (Weinwisser, Switzerland).”

This is the second wine of Pascal CHATONNET’s Château Haut Chaigneau and represents a great value. We selected it for anyone who wants to get to know the wines of this excellent winemaker for the first time without spending a lot of money.
The wine, 35% Merlot, 55% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, is unabashedly geared towards easy, pleasant drinking. It is delicious even when young, thanks to its fresh fruitiness.
Relatively intense garnet-red color. Rather concentrated, expressive bouquet with white flower and blackcurrant jam overtones. Becomes more open and mineral when decanted. Slightly oaky when swirled in the glass, with a spiciness reminiscent of cinnamon, licorice and cigar. Long aftertaste with notes of prunes in brandy. Well-integrated tannin without excess astringency.
