| Vintage: | 2005 |
This wine is incredible. Fermented in open 500-liter barrels from a blend of old Malbec vines, this wine contrasts spicy new oak aromas with concentrated dark cherry fruit and blackberry undertones. Cedar and spice notes are enlivened with a bite of fresh acidity in a polished, modern style. Maturity: 2010-2018. FIVE STARS—Decanter 2008

| Chateau du Cedre "Le Cedre" |
| Region: | France |
| Appellation: | Cahors |
| Varietal: | Malbec |
| Vintage: | 2005 |
This is the leading château in Cahors, where Malbec and Tannat grapes produce dense and tannic wines, over time developing wonderful complexity. Le Cèdre 2001 is harvested from 30 to 40 year old vines on a 13 hectares lot. This 100% Malbec is aged in 80% new oak barrels and 20% in one-year old barrels.
The wine is black and very concentrated. The nose reveals black fruits, balsamic notes, prunes and olives. On the palate it is velvety, spicy, ripe but never jammy. The combination of great ripeness and exceptional freshness, power and elegance, make this wine a classy example of a high-end Cahors. A wine made to perfection and a spellbinding sensation! The Hachette Guide of 2004 calls Le Cèdre “remarkable.”
The 2005 Le Cèdre received FOUR STARS by Decanter Magazine!

This is our first box wine, and one that is perfect for just about any occasion. This 100% Malbec comes to us from the Southwest of France. It has a deep purple color and aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, and fine spices paired with a rich and soft mouth feel. Enjoy with pasta dishes, grilled or cold meats, cheeses or just on its own.
